Approximately once a month we offer a family event at SCA Eagle‘s Cove. Families are kindly invited for this event where we play games, do some crafts, have food and just enjoy the time together.

Family Event ’09: On March 14th we had another great family event with friends! There were six families, 28 people in attendance. As we enjoyed the weather and snow before the spring thaw, we are indeed grateful to the Lord for such an occasion. The men and boys took in a few hours of paintball, while others enjoyed snowboarding, tobogganing on the hill, and playing in the snow. There were some games in the “dinning area” for a relaxed and informal atmosphere. It is these types of events where relationships continue to develop and flourish. In addition, it was a breath of  “fresh air”, a change of scenery, as we enjoyed each others company and God’s creation in the beautiful environment of SCA Eagle’s Cove. With the Lord’s help we hope to continue to have such events at Eagle’s Cove for families in our area..

October Family Event ’08: One year ago we hosted our first “Family Event” and throughout this year we have had great times, many laughs, and most importantly developed new friendships. Last weekend the basement of the trailer, which continues to be used as our dining area/ games room/chapel/ “everything else” area was once again packed. About 40 people crammed into the space after hours of paintballing, a scavenger hunt and other fun outside activities to enjoy a great meal. With our bellies full of moose soup and moose smokies, we all sat down to get involved in the “Family Game.” Competitions of bridge building, “chubby bunnies” (a game of stuffiing your mouth with marshmallows and saying “chubby bunnies”), costume making with toilet paper, tin foil and plastic wrap kept us all laughing and teasing each other long into the evening. The Family Events that are hosted at the Centre were started with the purpose of bringing families together. To be a community. With many of our First Nations People leaving their villages and moving to the City of Thunder Bay we desire to provide a sense of community with them; a sense of belonging. We are trusting that this “community” will grow, and we believe it is the crucial aspect of building relationships that will make the difference.

Family Camp ’08: August long weekend we hosted our 1st Family Camp. To celebrate with our Switzerland friends, their national holiday, we all dressed up in red shirts with white crosses to commemorate the Switzerland flag.

Play Days: Several times a year we run play days at specific areas of Thunder Bay where First Nations families and other families are living. During those family play days we offer hot dogs, drinks, face painting, balloons, games, sports, fun activities and a draw for a gift card.
